What's different?

The Look:
Designers took a subtle but direct approach to changing the overall look of the new 2017 Hyundai Elantra. They simplified the lines from front to back so there is a more horizontal design to improve on looks and aerodynamics.  The nose has been extended slightly and tweaked to show a stronger looking chin and grille. Everything from the rear-view mirrors to the door handles and wheels has been slightly modified and improved in some way to escape the old look and embrace the new!

The Performance:

  • Most trims of the 2017 Elantra feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that runs on the Atkinson cycle, and it produces an estimated 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque.
  • Hyundai expects fuel economy ratings of 29 miles per gallon city, 38 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined with the six-speed automatic.
  • A six-speed manual only on the SE trim.
  • The Elantra Eco arrives in spring 2016 with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four cylinder with 128 hp and 156 lb-ft and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The brand estimates 35 mpg combined with that combo.
  • A much stronger platform is beneath the upgraded design.
  • The Elantra now uses 53 percent advanced high strength steel compared to 21 percent before, and the change allows torsional rigidity to increase 29.5 percent.
  • The engineers also work to improve NVH wherever possible with improvements like a hood insulator, thicker glass, sound-absorbing material, and plastic and rubber bushings for the front subframe.

As you can see below, the interior now features a more horizontal look/feel highlighting a metallic trim detail running the width of the dash as well as around the shifter. The 2017 gives you two choices beyond the base stereo. You can decide between a seven-inch Display Audio system that also includes a rearview camera or an eight-inch setup which includes navigation. This provides a much more driver focused experience and allows for more comfort, clear turn by turn directions, and premium sound!

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is poised to become a big hit among drivers from Bridgeport, Clarksburg, Fairmont, Morgantown and Elkins. Why? Because the latest Elantra build picks up where the critically and culturally acclaimed 2016 edition left off - while adding additional performance and technology features that professionals, families and experienced drivers from across the region can't live without.

Upgrades from 2016 Elantra

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra features an updated design that cuts down on wind resistance while introducing a new aesthetic. A new hexagonal grille with horizontal slats flank each of Elantra's vertical LED headlights. In addition, the new Elantra is engineered with over twice as much high strength steel for improved fuel efficiency along with increased toughness. Thicker glass, sound-absorbing materials and enhanced sub-frame brushings also reduce cabin noise for a smoother ride. The new Elantra also comes with available smartphone connection software such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Similarities to 2016 Elantra

What remains on the 2017 Hyundai Elantra is the fuel efficiency and tech capability Elantra drivers have learned to love. Elantra's 145-horsepower engine is capable of a 38 EPA-estimated MPG highway, meaning you'll still save on gas. The car is also chock full of the active safety features drivers from in and around Bridgeport have come to appreciate. From available blind-spot monitoring to rear view camera, the 2017 edition is wholly expected to yield the coveted Top Safety Pick+ bestowed on its predecessor.

The best carryover from last year's model is Hyundai Elantra's affordability. With a starting price of $18K, it's the ideal vehicle for students, first-time buyers and young professionals.
