With so many drivers opting for larger crossovers and SUVs, many automakers have let their compact and subcompact sedan offerings fall by the wayside. That’s not the case with Hyundai and their subcompact Accent. At the Toronto Auto Show last week, the Korean car maker surprised us by unveiling a more handsome, tech-forward fifth-gen car.
A mainstream subcompact though it may be in size and price, the features on the latest Accent are aimed and breaching your expectations. This includes a 7-inch touch screen in the spiffy, black-and-red-accented interior, and a driving mode selector. Usually found in much more expensive cars, this switch lets you tune your car’s suspension to your liking. For motive force, Hyundai has employed a new 1.6-liter direct injection four-cylinder with 132 horsepower, and 119 lb-ft of twist available lower in the rev range than before.
