Vehicle problems per 100 Hyundai models declined by an industry-leading 25 points, or 16 percent, for 2017, the result of improving on strict indicators measured by the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) the likes of which propelled Hyundai to its best showing to date in the 2017 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). In fact, Hyundai rocketed up thirteen nameplate rankings from 2016 to 2017, reaching number six on the list.
The VDS looks at potential problems in three-year-old vehicles, including those of engine/transmission, driving experience and Audio/Communication/Entertainment/Navigation, and a lower score, which Hyundai easily earned, means higher quality. The IQS evaluates quality post-90 days of ownership; J.D. Power's Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study creates a metric from customer perceptions of design, content, layout and performance of a new vehicle; and a new Tech-Experience Index Study reviews the overall customer vehicle technology experience.
Bespeaking overall vehicle quality and long-term dependability, even during a period when vehicle problems increased on average by four industry-wide, this is quite the big deal. Just take a look at the exemplary 2017 Hyundai Sonata, recognized by J.D. Power as the second-place vehicle in the midsize car segment, continuing a tradition begun in 2014.
And Jenkins Hyundai has a showroom replete with brand-new Hyundai vehicles to speak to that selfsame level of quality.
